On the occasion of the PARSIFAL AT THE ATHENAEUM project, the RICHARD WAGNER SOCIETY ROMANIA was launched as a platform of cultural dialogue, a forum of information and of encounters for those who appreciate the creation of the great German composer.

His Excellency Mr.Cord Meier Klodt, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany is the honorary president of the Society. 

"I love classical music, but I can hardly call myself a Wagnerian, at least not in the full sense of the word. Though I have yet to sit through a full cycle of the “Ring” on Bayreuth's notoriously uncomfortable seats, I am delighted that there is a Wagner society in Romania and even more so, that I have been asked to serve as its Honorary President.
More than any other of the great German composers, Wagner has always provoked a wide spectrum of emotional reactions: from sheer bliss and ecstasy at the most sublime moments of his music to wonder at the intricate complexity of his compositions; from the impact his music had during the very difficult periods of the last century to the perception of his multi-faceted personality.
Even today, his music continues to divide and unite at the same time - musically, politically or as a social event. But it is always an event! And it is without any doubt a core element of Europe´s rich musical tradition that has deeply influenced so many modern composers.
In this spirit, I definitely am a Wagnerian and proud to be the Honorary President of the Romanian Wagner Society!"
