Julie Price

Principal bassoon - the BBC Symphony and Professor at the Royal College of Music in London.

Julie Price studied at the Royal Northern College of Music and at the Manchester University with Edward Warren and William Waterhouse, continuing her training with Roger Birnstingl at the Geneva Conservatory. Her first position was with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra as principal bassoon.

She also performed as principal bassoon in the orchestra of the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the English Chamber Orchestra.

Presently, Julie Price holds the position of co-principal bassoon of the BBC Symphony Orchestra and principal bassoon of the English Chamber Orchestra.

Julie Price has an intense soloist and chamber music activity, performing mainly with the English Chamber Orchestra, with whom she recorded  the Concerto for Bassoon and the Sinfonia Concertante by Mozart and the Romance for Bassoon and Orchestra by Elgar. With the same orchestra, she gave the world premiere of the Concertino for bassoon by Simon Proctor.
